Another nearly useless weekend...

I didn't really do a whole lot with the weekend. Worked yesterday morning, which was all right, but certainly not the way I wanted to spend the morning. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday watching baseball and hockey, instead of working on music, which I should have been doing. I did tinker around a little with my USB MIDI keyboard, but I still couldn't get rid of the delay issue it has. I don't really know exactly how I'm going to solve that problem, although now I do have something of a workaround.

I sent off an e-mail to a couple who put an ad on Craigslist. She's a singer, and he's a drummer, and they're trying to put together a band doing original material. Unfortunately, I guess I didn't really impress them with my e-mail, because I have yet to hear back from them. Hopefully I'll manage to get something together in the near future. I guess recording some music would be a good thing, so I can at least get some sample material up there on the web.

This morning, the girlfriend and I went down to her mom's place and had a nice lunch with her brother and sister-in-law, the nephews, and her mom and stepfather. We stopped at Guitar Center on the way back home, and I picked up a new MIDI interface, to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't, but in talking to the girlfriend about the issue, she gave me the idea for the workaround. It's not exactly a best-case scenario, as it involves using an external sound module, but at least it should let me do some playing and recording in real time. Now I just need to get off my ass and do the recording.

That will have to be tomorrow, though, because tonight I'm going to head off to bed...

Day 23 of 365

I was a bit hungry when I got home from work today, so I decided that I would make myself some toast. Probably a bad idea, because I can still smell the rank odor of charred white bread. Guess I left it in the toaster oven just a little longer than I should have. Oh well...

I thought about setting up the keyboard and playing some, but wound up just watching hockey instead. I really do need to work some more on my music, because the songs just aren't going to record themselves. I did empty the dishwasher and do a little laundry, though, so at least that's something halfway productive...

Day 22 of 365

Ernie had his last puppy class today. Despite his parents not putting in anywhere near as much homework with him as we should have, he still managed to pass the final. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home, so I couldn't take any pictures of him in his little cap and gown. A couple of the other parents took pictures of him, and the girlfriend gave them her e-mail address. Hopefully we'll get a copy of the picture sent to us. Not sure if we're going to take any more of the classes down there at Petsmart. I know the girlfriend doesn't really care all that much for Chris, the trainer. He is a bit scattered. Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how we do on our own...

Day 21 of 365

Today we drove down to Keller to see the girlfriend's middle nephew, Oliver, play his soccer game. We took Ernie along, not realizing that the folks there at the soccer field don't like to have dogs, even little puppies, out near the field. So we did have to move back a distance, to near the parking area, but we could at least still see what was going on during the game.

Most of what went on as far as Oliver was concerned was very little. He was mostly positioned at the back as a defender, and he really didn't do all that much unless the ball game right at him, and then he usually just kicked it to one of the other kids who were a little more active. I think his team lost, but I'm not really sure. It's not like it was the World Cup or anything.

After the game, we went over to the girlfriend's mom's house. Ernie behaved himself fairly well there. Aside from a little bit of excitement pee right outside their door, he really hasn't made any kinds of messes over at their place. That's a very good thing. Mostly he seems to just behave himself and enjoy the coolness of the tiles.

We had a bit of a lunch/dinner while we were there, then came back home. Ernie has basically just been lounging around since we got home, probably because it's been pretty warm today and he's had a fairly active day running around charming people. The girlfriend and I have mostly just been lounging around, too, watching TV instead of doing some of the stuff we should do around the place. Instead of practicing music, I watched a hockey game on the tube. Guess I should go get ready for bed now, though...
